About BakenOord

BakenOord offers four newly renovated self-catering cottages. Relax on a wine farm in the rustic ambience of the labourers' cottages and have a bird's eye view from the nearby Bakenskop/Beacon Hill over the Breede River Valley.

One house is situated between the vineyards and a horse camp, with unspoiled views of the Langeberg and Riviersonderend mountains. It is within walking distance from the Breede River and just a stone's throw away from the farm dam. The other three cottages are situated on the banks of the Breede River.

Take a walk along the banks of the Breede River, 13 km of riverbed and vineyards and 6 km through typical 'bossie-veld' vegetation.

For the bird lovers, enjoy birdwatching along the river. There are cycling routes suitable for the whole family. Play tennis, golf or bowls and at night lie under the sky and watch the stars.

The farm is 9 km from Bonnievale, in the picturesque Breede River Valley and only 22 km from the N2 at Stormsvlei, and 28 km from Robertson. Cape Town is 2 hours’ drive away and the Garden Route 2,5 hours’ drive.

The hut self was nice and alright. It is very secluded from other people, and the outside lights is very few and is very weak. The house was extremely cold for our 8 month old baby. We only stayed 1 night and decided to check out. I sent a message to the owner that we will check out earlier and till now i have not heard a word from hear since. I am extremely disapointed in the way the advertise this place, we were not told beforehand that it is on a gravel road or that we will be living among the workers of the farm in a ice cold hut.

We had a lovely relaxing stay and Annami and family were very welcoming and warm hosts - nothing was too much trouble to arrange. Our cottage was well acquitted and comfortable. It is convenient for exploring Bonnievale and the surrounding wine farms while on site the kids enjoyed the walks around the farm and its couple of resident animals. A very enjoyable stay for the whole family.

We had a wonderful time in the quaint self-catering cottage. It's equipped with absolutely everything you need and the decor is strikingly simple. There is a beautiful koppie - easy walk - from where you have a beautiful view. The farm is quite central and close enough to Bonnievale to make quick shopping possible if you forgot any groceries. Bonnievale even has some geocaches if any geocaching nerds might happen to read here :)
