About Ballots Tree House
Naturally shaded among beautiful Milkwood Trees on the Ballots Bay hillside, you will discover a nature lover’s haven. A perfectly secluded, modern-day, fairy tale tree house. This unique wooden cabin is located near the foot of Ballots Bay overlooking the sheltered pebble beach and Meul
River. This self-catering gem comfortably accommodates up to 4 adults and 2 children, you couldn’t imagine a more natural and tranquil environment. Ballots Bay is located in a private nature reserve abundant with a variety of wildlife, birds and fynbos. As you drive along the winding road leading you to Ballots Bay, you will soon realise that you are in for a truly special getaway. The drive itself is surrounded by lush vegetation and you will want to stop at the bridge and take in the river and waterfall on either side.
As you pass through the gates and continue straight down to the bay, Ballots Tree House is at the end of the road on the right accessed via steep wooden stairs. You might be slightly out of breath when you reach the top but you will instantly fall in love with this piece of heaven.The spacious, secluded deck overlooks the rugged beach and river. This is the perfect place to enjoy sun downers, relax or braai. Inside you will find a charmingly furnished open-plan living area with a lounge, dining room and fully equipped kitchen.
Downstairs are 3 cosy bedrooms, a main bedroom with a double bed, en-suite toilet and a luxurious corner bath perfect for honeymooners. The second bedroom has a double-bed and the third small bedroom, perfectly suited to 2 children, has a 2 bunk beds.
If you can possibly tear yourself away from this tranquil haven, Ballots Bay is conveniently close to Victoria Bay – great surfing spot (10 minute drive), George – perfect for shopping and exploring (15 minutes) or you could even head further and explore Sedgefield and Knysna which is only a 30 – 40 minute drive.
This is definitely a bucket-list destination for nature lovers, honeymooners and families alike. Ballots Bay is one of the Garden Route’s best kept secrets tucked away in a Nature Reserve between George and Wilderness. This beautiful nature reserve is abundant with wildlife. If you take a leisurely drive around the Ballot’s Heights you are likely to spot Bush buck, Zebra, Grysbok, Bontebok and the easiest to find are Ostrich that roam the open plains at the top. If you explore further, you might be lucky to find the more elusive creatures such as Lynx, Porcupine, Bush Pig and Snakes. Ballots Bay is also home to approximately 130 species of birds, including the magnificent Knysna Loerie and is densely covered by a huge variety of fynbos.
Ballots Bay is truly a journey of discovery with plenty of walks/hikes. This includes a beautiful forest walk where you can stop for a picnic or braai surrounded by trees. You can also cool off in the secluded rock pools accessed via steep cliffs. Down at the Bay, there is a small pebble beach which is perfectly sheltered by steep cliffs on either side. This beach is well-loved by Fishermen, Beach Lovers and Nature Enthusiasts.! Here you can make use of the stone communal braai area – the perfect place to prepare and cook your catch of the day if you are a keen Fisherman.

PRIOR TO BOOKING, KINDLY NOTE:
1.) There is a once-off additional clean fee of R 550.00 that is not included in your quotation. This is for the preparation of the home prior to your arrival (Clean linen, towels and full house clean). The house is quite remote and require the services of an outsourced cleaning crew.
2.) Fresh linen, bedding, blankets and bath towels are provided.
3.) It is imperative to arrive before sunset as there are no streetlights along this road and there are sections that are very steep!
4.) Please note, we welcome children of all ages, however, the home is not toddler-friendly. Should you wish to bring little ones, please keep a close, watchful eye on them.
Guests may arrive any time after 14h00 on the first day and must depart no later than 10h00 on the last day.
Please note that excessive noise is not permitted.
No family pets are permitted.
Smoking is NOT permitted inside the establishment (only outside and on deck areas).
The establishment owner and/or Absolute Getaways (Imagine Africa Tourism (Pty) Ltd) cannot be held liable in the event of personal injury or damage / theft of personal property occurring during your stay.
The property must be left in the same condition it was found. All crockery and cutlery must be washed and packed away. Rubbish must be placed in the outside bin. Should the house be left in an excessive mess, additional cleaning fees will be charged to your credit card or will be deducted from your breakages deposit.
Damage to the property, breakages and loss of items belonging to the property will be charged to your credit card or deducted from your breakages deposit.
