About Stone Cottage

Stone Cottage, built in the 1940’s, is a gorgeous, cosy and charming stone guest house nestled amongst a beautiful garden extended to an acre of trees and shrubs. These have been carefully maintained in a naturalistic semi-wild state attracting many species of birds and undoubtedly is one of the most delightful escapes for a weekend getaway.

This unpretentious country cottage has a cheerful electric blend of the quaint and the contemporary. Not only has Stone Cottage the appeal of lively originality, the ambience is warm, and the service dedicated. For nature enthusiasts, bird life abounds in a garden which becomes part of the experience, a perfect venue for wedding pictures, short honeymoons and romantic weekends. Leisurely country days can be filled with walks, romantic sunset cruises, windsurfing, kite surfing, fishing, mountain biking, a visit to the historic Motorcycle Museum, visits to the nature reserve and the crocodile.

Stone Cottage consists of two fully equipped, furnished, self-catering units and a newly renovated bed and breakfast unit, all of which have their own small secluded private gardens and braai facilities. Coffee, tea, milk and sugar are provided on arrival; all kitchens are fully equipped with all necessities needed. Bath towels and all bedding are supplied. There is adequate parking for boats, trailers, cars and full use of the main garden and pool area.

For power boaters and fisherman the Water sports Club charge a daily entrance fee and has excellent facilities with a boat launching ramp, braai’s and shaded seating areas as well as an ablution block with a shower and toilets, as well as a lovely fishing spot.

Only 35 km away is the Emerald Casino, which now has a water theme park and a very well-maintained animal sanctuary. For golfing enthusiasts, both the Maccauvlei and the Riviera Golf Courses are within 25 minutes of Deneysville.

Please note that only The Cottage is pet friendly.

The place is a two bedroom one bathroom flat that has been converted into a B&B. The owner kept telling us that she has kept it “rustic” to hide the fact that it was so run down. Doors don’t open and are missing handles and door catches so if you push the spare bedroom door closed, you will be trapped. The bathroom has no shower in spite of having a shower curtain and the hand held shower leaks everywhere. The bathroom mirror is precariously balanced on two screws, the bedroom lamp was missing a globe and only two towels were provided for the four guests. It’s a rip off at R1200

We loved our time at Stone Cottage, everything was perfect, Annelize was a warm, wonderful hostess. We were allowed to bring our huge old dogchild with us and we were all treated like royalty. We had an outstanding lunch at Tasha's on Main for Sunday lunch with live music and interaction with the locals. The facilities were clean, well stocked and private. Beautiful old trees with amazing birdlife. Deneysville is a sweet little town with much to offer.

We loved the bedroom, the sheets where clean and the garden was chilled. What should be improved is room service, facilities like hot water
