About The Hex River 4x4 Trail
The Hex River 4x4 Trail is 75 km in total and takes about two days to complete. If this is slightly too long for your taste, then you can tackle one of the three routes that make up this trail.
It is located about 35 km from De Doorns but is also nearby Touws River and Montagu. The first track is the Karoo Trail of 35 km. It is a circular drive through veld and shrub with a grading of 3. The second trail is the Fynbos Trail and is slightly more difficult than the first with a distance of 30 km. The last trail, the J Trail, is what makes this route so precarious. It has a difficulty grading of 5 and was closed to the public until 2008. The route is the shortest of the three at 10 km, but most definitely not the easiest.
The Karoo Trail takes 2 to 3 hours to complete, the Fynbos Trail takes 2 to 4 hours to complete and the J Trail takes 5 to 6 hours to complete. Please call for further information.
