Komatipoort is conveniently situated 8km from the Crocodile Bridge Gate to Kruger National Park. Bordering Mozambique and 65km from the border of Swaziland, it’s a perfect base to explore these diverse worlds.

Within an hour’s drive you can experience lion and elephant, pristine Indian Ocean beaches, the history of Maputo and traditional dancing in the Kingdom of Swaziland. Elephant back safaris, microlight safaris, golf and fishing are just a few of the appealing things to do.

They say there was a Revolution? This town has witnessed interesting events in recent history. It was a major railway town en route between Johannesburg and Lorenco Marques (now Maputo). The former President of Mozambique, Samora Machel, died here in a tragic airplane crash in 1986. Today a stunning monument and museum outside the town commemorates his role as an African leader.

Looking for the Wild Things? Komatipoort is one of the hottest towns in South Africa and has a favourable winter climate. Game viewing at this end of the Kruger Park is excellent all year round, but particularly between the winter months of June and October.

An oasis of peace and trees, the town is small, quiet and safe, with a few local restaurants and excellent accommodation ranging from backpackers to luxury lodges and self-catering facilities.
