About Domboshaba Heritage Site

The Domboshaba Ruins is an Iron Age stonewall site built during the Great Zimbabwe era in 1450AD. During its heyday it functioned as the capital of the Bakalanga tribal state known as Butua. Every October the Kalanga culture is celebrated at Domboshaba with three days of music, dancing and partying – everyone is welcome to join the festivities. The site is situated along the Masunga Kalakamati road 120 km northeast of Francistown.
