About Sabine's Drostdy Restaurant

Cape Culture meets Belgian Flair...

Experience food prepared with personal care and a passion for excellence! Your chef and hostess, Sabine, is Belgian and will personally ensure bourgondisch portions. Enjoy your meal and the superb service in an inviting ambience of the classic Cape-Dutch homestead, Zanddrift.

The restaurant is open on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 09h00 until the last guest leaves; it is open om Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 09h00 to 18h00; and Thursday the restaurant is closed.

Sabine has opened and owned two busy restaurants in Swellendam which are still running successfully, and then opened Sabine’s Drostdy Restaurant on the 1 August 2010.

As a Swellendam resident for 22 years already, Sabine’s two great passions are food and Swellendam. She fulfills both these passions in the her capacity as the owner of Sabine’s, which offers both the Swellendam market as well as all its visitors a dining experience to indulge in and a tourism product for Swellendam to be proud of.

The menu offers tantalizing meals which could be served either outside while enjoying the most fantastic views, or, weather depending, in the homely atmosphere inside with a beckoning fire in the open fireplace. Fresh country air, flair and the finest food are what it's all about. The extensive wine list boasts a variety of wines from the area.

This was the only place open on a Sunday night. Great mountain views. The mosquitos were a bit of a pain in the evening. The food was nice, but not as tasty as hoped.
